Encomiums As Delta Commissioner of Police Retires

ASABA- Encomium pours freely at the valedictory thanks giving service for the retiring Delta state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, at the Diocese of Asaba Anglican Communion, Chapel of Divine Compassion, Bishops Court, Asaba.

Clerics, well-wishers, Journalists and friends of Aduba that graced the occasion were full of praises for a man they described as intelligence, dedicated and a crime buster.

Ministering at the session, Rt Rev. Justus Mogekwu, the Asaba Diocesan Bishop, said people should not always criticized those in public service, but to also encourage them,

He said Aduba has done well to reduce the rate of crime in the state and will be missed by all.

According to him; “What we thought that was impossible became possible when Aduba served as the CP in Bauchi state, and since he came on board here in Delta he has done well. The church must recognized excellence.

“Some people criticized all punblic servants and fail to recognize that there are some people who are different. Aduba is one of those people you can look up to.”, he said

Taking his sermon from the book of Matthew 25: 14-30, Rev. Mogekwu pleaded with the mighty in the society not to use their influence to shade criminal elements and called on government to use all weaponry in its possession to combat crimes in the country.

“They should ensure that cultism does not polarize the state. We in the church must recognize what is right and who ever that does what is right whether he is a Christian or not must be appreciated. God is a God of peace and who ever that preaches peace God will bless that person.” He declares.

According to Mogekwu, there are religion that does not promote peace otherwise some people could not have been slaughtering their fellow human being in the name of religion.

“No matter what you do, use it to bear fruits for the people.” He added.

Mrs. Elizabeth Agu, the branch manager Central Bank, Asaba and Mr. Agbuduta, the Special Assistance to the Governor on Religion Affairs, extolled the virtues of Ikechukwu Aduba described him as humble and a crime buster.

They commended his diligence to duty saying Asaba hitherto dreaded of is now a choice destination because Aduba was able to curtail all manner of crime and bring them to the barest minimum.

On his part, CP Aduba said he was overwhelmed by the honour done him by the church, saying it was the greatest honour he has gotten in his life.

Recalling his service in the different parts of the country, Aduba attributed his success to prayers, noting that God has always been there for him.

“The recent Ekiti state governorship election remains the freest and safest election I ever experience throughout my service.

“Nigeria is the greatest concentration of black race in the world and we must continue to pray for the survival of this nation.” He added.

The valedictory church service features intercession for the nation, Delta state, the Nigerian Police and the abducted Chibok girls.
