Liverpool ‘want £40million Real Madrid star Karim Benzema as Luis Suarez replacement’

Liverpool are weighing up a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as they plan for life after star striker Luis Suarez.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is weighing up his options after accepting Barcelona’s bid for the Uruguay ace, who is now undertaking a medical with the Catalan club.

The Merseyside club will pocket about £63million for Suarez, and reports in Spain say he could look to immediately spend £40million of that on Benzema.

Liverpool know they need another striker to replace Suarez and with Real continuing to chase Radamel Falcao, Benzema could become available.
He has already reportedly snubbed one offer of a new contract and with his deal running down, Madrid would be tempted with a £40million bid.

Rodgers is due to sit down with Liverpool’s senior officials this week to discuss how to go about replacing Suarez and Benzema is seen as a potential option.
