No certificate for student-cultists in Delta, Uduaghan warns

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has ordered authorities of tertiary institutions in the state not to issue certificate to any identified and confirmed cult member henceforth, even as he charged graduating students to be good ambassadors of the state wherever they find themselves.

The governor gave the order at the 14th convocation ceremony of the College of Education, Agbor, and charged lecturers to be morally upright and academically sound, saying it is their duty to impact knowledge on the students.

He said most of the vices plaguing the society today is traceable to cultism and can no longer be tolerated in institutions in Delta State. He congratulated the graduating students, urging them to be good ambassadors of the state.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Higher education, Hope Eghagha, charged the head of the institution to make the convocation ceremony a yearly affair.

Similarly, Pastor Rhoda Ikede, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, charged the team monitoring the conduct of the NECO examination in various schools in Warri South, Uvwie and Udu council areas of the state to ensure that they comply with the rules governing the examination.

She said it was discovered at the Warri City College that the principal was supervising the exams and students were even half way through when the exams was not even supposed to have started.

The team also caught a supervisor at a private school, Hossana Comprehensive High School, at Aladja, Udu council area where the students were allegedly cheating and the custodian of the exhibit, said to be an invigilator, trying to scale through the fence of the school to escape being caught and punished.
