Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the accidents occurred around 4pm on Saturday, near Doka village when armed robbers, allegedly wearing military outfits, blocked the Abuja/Kaduna road and started robbing motorists.
About six vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident, which included a car of the “I-Care Women and Children Initiative”, an NGO of the wife of Vice President Namadi Sambo. Some of the vehicles were said to have been completely burnt and could not be salvaged by sympathisers who stopped to help put out the fire.
The injured victims were rushed to Doka general hospital for treatment.
The state Police command Public Relations Officer, Aminu Lawal, who confirmed the incident, said the multiple accidents were caused by panicking drivers who tried to reverse in the middle of the road.
He said, so far, there was no official report of casualties in the incident.
