EROSION: Flood Sweeps Girl Away In Delta Community


Pandemonium broke out in Boji Boji metropolis in Delta State at about 7:10pm at the weekend after a heavy downpour, as a nine-year-old girl was swept away by the torrent along the popular erosion ravaged- Old Lagos-Asaba road in Boji-Boji metropolis.

Narrating the ugly incident to our correspondent in Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of the state, an eye witness, Emmanuel Nyiam, said that the father of the little girl was conveying the wife and their little daughter on his motorcycle to their home during the heavy downpour.

According to the eyewitness, the man was attempting to enter Alika Street, at Boji Boji Owa side of the metropolis through Old Lagos Asaba road, when the heavy flood swept away the motorcycle, and they fell into the gutter.

He added that before the man and the wife could recover, the flood had carried the girl to unknown destination along the newly constructed gutter.
