Just because her mom is one of the most famous pop stars in the world, doesn't mean Lourdes isn't your typical American teenager — well, sort of. In a new blog post, Madonna's eldest daughter, who goes by Lola, dishes on her graduation from New York's LaGuardia High School, how she's spending her pre-college summer, and what it was like going to prom.
"HEY to all the readers. I don’t know if u heard (sarcasm) but I GRADUATED. GRAAAAAD. UATED. From High School. It’s very difficult to wrap my head around because I feel like its something I’ve been talking about FOR EVER and it finally happened," she explained before adding, "There also isn’t the ominous presence of another year of high school and test taking up ahead like there usually is when you’re about mid way into the beautiful summer." (She did go on to describe this beautiful summer as "humid and gross" like "inside a fat man's sock," but it seems she's enjoying it just the same.)
"This past weekend I went to a music festival upstate and truly had the most beautiful time," the Material Girl designer mused. "It was a little bit outside of New York, the vibes were amazing. Great crowd of people too and my god I heard such incredible music."
But while she loved the music festival, she recently attended another event that left her decidedly less impressed: her high school prom.
"A week before graduation I attended the classic party every American teenager goes to despite the really bad music – this is known as prom. What can I say? Those of you who have been probably know exactly what I’m talking about," she shared. "Of course I had a beautiful time but I’ll attribute that to the fact that I partied with my awesome friends all night. Not to mention awkwardly avoiding teachers because you may or may not have had some champagne and it would be weird to talk to them.
A photo posted to Madonna's Instagram account featuring Lola nestled between four other friends, two of whom are holding wine glasses.
"Not to [mention] the prom dj’s who feel the need to play 'please don’t stop the music' (what a prom classic I know they played that at your prom!) 5 times in 3 hours. Of course despite all of these weird prom factors, I got to spend an entire weekend kicking it with my high school homies. It was a great way to end the year."
Lola is expected to start at the University of Michigan, which her mother attended briefly, this fall. In the meantime, she hopes to hit up a few more music festivals... though she doesn't say anything about wanting to relive her prom.
